All of the Vitality roses will each have the name of an inspirational person to them printed on their kit for the Vitality Netball Legends Series. Players have nominated someone that has had a profound impact on their growth as an athlete⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Serena’s inspirational person is Linda Andrews. Not only has Linda supported Serena throughout her career she has travelled the globe to support her and has always believed Serena would be the star she is. ⁣⁣⁣

Serena Guthrie - Linda Andrews ⁣

"Linda was the person who took me up and back from Sheffield...To and from Bath on trains, planes and boats through snow, ice, rain and shine when trialing for England U17 and U19s when my mum had to work and couldn't come with me. She took me for individual sessions. If it wasn't for her support, belief and unwavering love for netball, I wouldn't be where I am today. She was my number one fan from the day I met her. She's more than just a coach; she's my family and I'll never be able to fully repay her for whar she's done for me. Everything I've achieved a big part of it belongs to her."
⁣⁣⁣
Linda Andrews is an exceptional and life changing coach, she has made Jersey Netball what it is today and is an inspiration to many players and coaches. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do, this one’s for you Linda!

"Following the Government's Covid 19 press conference yesterday, I believe it is in the best interests of all our netball community that we cease all netball activities from today until the New Year. Our programmes cover so many age groups and so many age groups are being affected at this time. It is such a difficult decision to make but I think it is the right one!"

Advice will be given once we are able to start again.

<![CDATA[Three Year Deal at Les Ormes Plus A New Floor]]>Mon, 22 Jun 2020 07:00:00 GMThttp://jerseynetball.com/latest-news/three-year-deal-at-les-ormes-plus-a-new-floorNetball will be staying at Les Ormes for the next 3 years! We have had our lease extended until the end of March 2023 and this good news is combined with the further news that The States of Jersey have kindly gifted us new flooring, which has laid unused since the Island Games 2015. The new sports floor will be a great addition to the courts. A massive thank you to the Bodset foundation for allowing us this extension.⁣

JNA president Linda Andrews said: ‘We’re very thankful to the Bodest Foundation for giving us this extension and to the government for providing this brilliant playing surface for us. It will be all four courts for three seasons, which is great. It gives us a bit of stability again.

‘To be able to play on a Taraflex floor is just brilliant. It cushions the landings and makes for a much better experience for everybody. And it’s in the agreement that we will be using Les Ormes for all of our high-level games again – Team Jets and the big meets like the inter-insulars and the Uptons.’

The extension to March 2023 will hopefully allow a decision to be made about a new home for netball.

Andrews added: ‘The government had worked so hard in looking at the provision of facilities for us and we were really close to realising that opportunity. We’re in uncertain times now but at least this gives us breathing space in which we can keep working with the government and keep exploring ideas. Once the Island is back up and running again we’ll see what can be done.’

<![CDATA[One match decides winner of Saltgate Section Two Youth League Tournament]]>Wed, 11 Mar 2020 07:00:00 GMThttp://jerseynetball.com/latest-news/one-match-decides-winner-of-saltgate-section-two-youth-league-tournamentWith teams mostly made up of year 7s in their first year of the Saltgate Youth League there was an impressive display of netball, showing our sport has a bright future ahead of it. The Tournament also invites the Jersey U11 Red and White teams to gain valuable experience playing against other teams ahead of their Interinsular fixture at the end of the month. Matches against the Jersey sides however do not count towards the overall results.

With 9 teams taking to the courts there were some fantastically close run matches. St Clement Cookies and St Lawrence Chipmunks left nothing on the court as the Chipmunks won by just one goal. Each side showed how much they have developed this term with improved movement and higher scoring matches compared to the same tournament before Christmas.

There were lots of wins for the 2 sides who ultimately finished 1st and 2nd and so the match between Accies Acorns and Convent Robins was always going to be a crucial match. Before Christmas it was Convent Robins who were the victors and consequently the winners of the tournament but after a strong performance in the league Acorns were determined to take the victory this time. Both sides worked very hard showing improved passing and sharper movement. With the Acorns defence piling on the pressure on the Robins shooters, it was Acorns who took the win and therefore the trophy finishing undefeated.

The Jersey Netball Association would like to thank Saltgate for their sponsorship of the Saltgate Youth League which allows us to offer the opportunity for players in school years 7-9 to develop their match play.
