Team Jets 9,17,31,42 Team Jets put in a blinder of a last quarter to level a game that they had trailed for the preceding quarters. With 94% shooting accuracy from POM Sophie Holmes the Jets were able to convert interceptions. The winning goal shot by Holmes in the last 20 seconds in fact came from a fantastic interception from WD Lisa Luce. After the game Coach Linda Andrews said that Centre Jacy Brown “had the game of her life and made some incredible interceptions” such play helped the Jets win their 6th game from 9. Having now played every team once, Team Jets lie in 3rd though they are level on points with Ryland in 2nd position. The next game for the squad sees them play Sussex Thunder for the second time – this time at Les Ormes on Sunday 14th December |

Jersey's Senior Team Jets returned to winning ways in Premier 3 today, beating Norfolk United 47-41 in a hard-fought, physical battle. In an close battle Team Jets were just ahead by half time 23-21.
In a crucial 3rd quarter Norfolk starting strongly and took the lead halfway through leading 28-26. Team Jets were determined not to loose and fought back forcing numerous errors and gained the turnovers from the home side leaving them 36-31 ahead at the end of the quarter. After letting a final quarter lead slip last week the Jets were in no mood to see a repeat performance and closed out the game strongly to clinch victory. The result pushes Team Jets up to 3rd in the table. (see the table and more about Team Jets by clicking here) |
Well done also to the U16 Team Jets who travelled away for their first weekend competing in Division 1 of the U16 Regional League.
They faced their two toughest league games and unfortunately despite performing well the squad lost 33-36 to Lawn and 30-47 to Hucclecote. Both were very tight games. For a full match report on both games please click here. |
Saturday 1st November 2014
Well done to Team Jets who put in another great performance to earn them a second successive home win. The Team started off strongly taking an early 2 nil lead against Loughborough TFC who are yet to win a game this season. WA Abbie Hazley took the player of the match honours for linking well with Jacy Brown (C) and shooters Lynsey Pitman, Sophie Holmes and Rosie Tonner who came on for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Despite Sophie Holmes scoring 30 from 32 attempts it was the Loughborough TFC GS Leah Connelly who’s fantastic long range shooting kept the game competitive and caught the eye of most of the spectators. She took the POM title for her team.
Team Jets now join Kent County and Ryland on 24 points after the aforementioned played an epic 51 v 51 draw. Team Jets only lie in 3rd due to goal average which plays such a crucial part at this level. After the match coach Linda Andrews said “We’ve been looking at ways for [the shooters] to get free in a tight space and drawing defenders away…it worked a treat today”.

Team Jets Well done to Team Jets who are back to winning ways after defeating Dudley Leisure in their away match today 46 v 56. Team Jets were slow out the blocks and were down 9 v 4 midway through the opening quarter but battled back to trail by just one going into the 1st break. With excellent feeding and dominance in the centre court from Jacy Brown combined with the clinical efforts of shooters Lynsey Pitman and Sophie Holmes who had 85% and 87% accurracy respectively, Jets levelled the match at 25 each by half time. As the game went on the team grew in confidence according to Coach Linda Andrews and reduced their errors accross the court. POsitive team changes also made a difference with Jenna Murphy coming on at WA and Nicole Goddard at WD. Defenders Josie Le Masurier and Captain Lauren Devine also got to grips with Dudley's shooter, who is trialling for the Netball Superleague Franchise Loughborough Lightening, in the second half forcing errors and gaining turnover balls. After capitalising on their opponents mistakes and quickly feeding the ball to their shooters, the Jets finished the game brilliantly by extending their 3rd quarter lead and winning the final quarter 18 goals to 12. Saturday 4th October 2014Well done to Team Jets who played their first home game at Les Ormes on Saturday 4th October. With a packed crowd cheering them on the atmosphere was electric.
Before the game Team Jets were in 4th in the table with the opposition Cumberland lying in 2nd, one of only 2 teams to be unbeaten so far this season. After taking an early 4 v 1 lead the home team were feeding the circle well finding space amongst the Cumberland defence. However this space was closed down strongly in the second quarter by Cumberland, who admitted afterwards that they perhaps were still at the airport after issues lead the team and the match to be delayed for a few hours. Cumberland fought back to bring things almost level by half time (24 v 23) and took the lead for the first time early in the 3rd quarter. With Jets GA and GS swapping around to try and help get the ball to the shooting circle Jets pushed on but the game remained incredibly close with only a one or two goals separating the teams. Jets sadly missed a couple of chances but eged out the quarter 31 v 29. With Georgia Hickey injuring her knee Josie Le Masurier moved into GK and Captain Lauren Devine to GD. With some fantastic work the Jets pulled away early in the last quarter but Cumberland kept persevering and brought it back to a 1 goal game. With some turn overs due to loosing some contact and footwork decisions causing frustration throughout the team Cumberland took advantage. Cumberland also upped their defence and in the closing minutes took the lead to finish out the game 39 v 38. This was a game that everyone thought Team Jets would win given that they lead for the majority of the game but hopefully the positives will be taken into the next game. |

Jersey U11 Reds and Whites played their first competitive games against Redbridge Blues and Whites today in a long standing annual fixture. The Redbridge squad is well into their season and demonstrated this with strong teamwork and also had a significant height advantage particularly in defence! Despite this the Jersey Teams worked so hard and with accurate shooting made the most of every chance the had in the circle.
Jersey Whites played Redbridge Whites first. Centre Cait Brennan (captain) lead her team in an excellent display of work rate, chasing down every ball along with Vice Captain and POM Honor Daniels in WD. Daniels gained her team the ball with countless interceptions however it was at times hard for WA Millie Le Chevalier and Maisie Roberts, who swapped at this position twice during the game, to feed their shooters. Both Brodie Morris (GS) and GA Francesca James had to work hard to get in front of their tall defenders but did well to take a 2 v 1 lead after the first quarter. The height of Redbridge forced some passing errors from the Jersey team allowing them to start to control the game from the end of the 2nd quarter. The Jersey defence had their work cut out especially against GS Josie Davison who took the POM for Redbridge for her brilliant shooting and movement in the circle. Unfortunately tips from GD Katie A'Court where not always used to good effect as the Redbridge side kept the pressure on to maintain their lead. The Jersey side however never gave up and did themselves proud despite loosing eventually 9 v 6.
It was then the turn of Jersey Reds to take to court. Captain and POM Alyshia Whitworth (C) linked well with her attackers with both Amelia Shenton and Nicolle Hamilton playing WA during the game. Whitworth and Hamilton particularly picked off interceptions throughout the court and never gave up trying to feed Lily Jones (GS) and Evangeline James (GA). Again the tall defence made things hard but the shooters did capitalise on opportunities though unfortunately they were not abundant. In centre court Lily Brewster (WD) worked tirelessly against Redbridge POM Josie Gibbons who also played C for her team. Brewster put in some brilliant defensive work and won interceptions for her team. Redbridge showed great teamwork and the added advantage of having played more games than their opposition and the attack linked very well making life difficult for Ella Warner (GD) and Caroline Pereira (GK). The match finished 20 v 9.
The Jersey coaches however were very impressed with the effort from all the U11 players and have high hopes for the players going into the rest of the season although it has shown areas for improvement, a lot of positives can be taken forward. It was a steep learning curve for them all playing their first fixture in front of so many spectators - a huge well done to all the players!

Jersey Open 2014
Well done to all those who took part, organised and umpired the Jersey Open Tournament this weekend - a fantastic weekend of netball!! The final for the Trophy was contested between St Lawrence and Convent, with the latter taking an early lead 9 v 3 by half time. Despite St Lawrence's best efforts Convent went on to win. The final for the Plate was much closer between Accies and St Clement who had met earlier in the day in a game which saw Accies taking the upper hand in the closing minutes to win 17 v 15. The game went to extra time with the score tied at the close. Accies won in the end 23 v 20. For more on the games and a list of overall positions please click here. |
Team Jets
Team Jets will return to top of the table now that they have played their games in hand this weekend. They firstly beat Lawn A on Saturday 64 v 37. Despite being without Captain Lauren Devine Jets Jets stromed to an 18 v 7 lead in the first quarter, extending their lead to 36 v 19 by half time. GK Josie Le Masurier impressed, linking well with GD Jenna Meredith. Sophie Holmes gained POM honours. Jets continued their excellence performance into the match on Sunday against Crossbow. With another excellent opening quarter - 20 v 8 - Jets powered to another fantastic victory winning 64 v 40. In a very physical game the score line did not reflect the intestity and challenging nature of the match. Jacy Brown was nominated POM for her excellent feeds into the circle and reading the game superbly to gain valuable interceptions. |
Sunday 19th January 2014
U16 Team Jets have been defeated by current Regional leaders Hucclecote by a single goal in an highly contested top of the table match. Jets produced an excellent display of netball and were unfortunate not to get the win (38-37). Team Jets then beat Team Bath 41-30 in their second game of the double header.
Sunday 12th January 2014
Well done Team Jets who kept the winning streak going today with a win over Exeter Netball Club in their last home game of the season.
Team Jets started extremely strongly taking the first quarter by a strong margin. By half time Exeter were starting to close the gap with the score at 28 v 19. But in front of a great home crowd Jets continued to maintain a lead of at least 7 goals for the rest of the game to finish up 51 v 40. The next Jets games are to be played away on the weekend of 1st and 2nd February. Results will be posted as soon as possible on this website so keep a look out! |
