The Jersey U11s had a fantastic day at the Weston Park Blades Tournament. With fantastic hosts the 2 Jersey U11 squads had a fantastic opportunity to play against UK opposition. The Jersey Reds finished joint first but were 2nd on goal difference despite beating the eventual winners and it was also goal difference which decided 5th place for the Jersey Whites.
Well done to all the players and coaches Danny Simon and Harriet Simon who were joined by Natacha Morgan-Pasquali for the trip as well as by some great parental support! The Champs reigned at the annual Champs v the Best of the Rest tonight as Convent A (Division One), Convent E (Division Two) and St Clement D (Division Three) beat teams made up of the best players from their division. The fun part about playing this fixture is that the Champions are a team who have played together all season, “The Rest” come together as a team THAT night! Division One Champions Convent A 10, 18, 26, 36 The Rest 7, 10, 16, 23 Champions Convent A Gabriella Martin (GK), Ebony Troy (GD), Sarah Thatcher (WD), Tallula Norman (C), Paige Lawson (WA), Becca Forrest (GA) and Laura Belhomme (GS) The Rest Emily Sumner (GK), Lauren Arthur (GD), Steph Le Ruez (WD), Carol McKeon (C), Harriet Simon (WA), Leah Griffiths (GA), Emma Carre (GS) SUBS: Verity Simon (GA), Caren Yates (WD), Steph Le Ruez (GD/C) A great start for The Rest team who were able to gain possession of the ball during the majority of the first quarter, a few silly errors and Convent then showed control. Their accurate passing and positioning down the court gave them the ability to widen the gap in the final half of the game. Emily Sumner (GK, The Rest) did her upmost to disrupt Convent’s shooters; however this did not prevent Becca Forrest (GA) and Laura Belhomme (GS) shooting for the winning side! Division Two Champions Convent E 9, 20, 31, 41 The Rest 6, 10, 16, 23 Champions Convent E Zara Johnston (GK), Honor Crichard (GD), Natasha Forrest (WD), Libby Rothwell (C), Abbie Le Marquand (WA), Alex Perry (GA), Ellie Bisson (GS) SUB: Mollie Carre The Rest Tracey Fullerton (GK), Jill Luce (GD), Lucy Fogarty (WD), Mandy McDonnell (C), Danielle Sheldon (WA), Flora Davenport (GA), Gill Kaye (GS/GA) SUBS: Ashley Dowling (WA/C), Leslie Le Falher (GA/GS) Wonderful netball again from Convent E, showing everyone why they won the league. Abbie Le Marquand (WA/C) flying down the court and making some fantastic feeds into their shooting circle. Although, The Rest being put together for the first time, they fought hard to keep up – The Rest defence Tracey Fullerton (GK) and Jill Luce (GD) worked tirelessly and gained a few interceptions; however once the ball was in Convent’s hand a goal was cert! Division Three
Champions St Clement D 4, 9, 16, 18 The Rest 10, 16, 23, 29 Champions St Clement D Mary Pack (GK), Georgia Brewster (GD), Ellie Griffiths (WD), Marion Bushell (C), Jodie Crump (WA), Megan Hollingsworth (GA), Zoe Jury (GS) SUB: Eve Reagan-Hughes The Rest Becca Lever (GS), Bethany Bell (GA), Jess Watling (WA), Naomi de la Haye (C), Katy Nichol (WD), Jocelyn Mitchell (GD), Georgie Barclay (GK) SUBS: Hannah Le Clezio and Ellie Radcliffe The Rest took control of the match from the onset with effective turn overs from Jocelyn Mitchell and Naomi de la Haye, which the attackers converted to valuable goals. St Clement GD Georgia Brewster proved to be very strong on court, denying her opponent the ball and breaking down the flow of the opposition in their attack. The Rest team's GS Becca Lever had an outstanding game and was instrumental in allowing her team to forge ahead and gain a 29 - 18 victory.
