Congratulations to Isabella Valeur-Adu who has been selected to represent Team Bath Netball U15's for a second time. This time she will play in the squad chosen to compete in the England Netball U15 Development Tournament on the weekend of 31st August! She has had a long wait to find out since the final trial on Saturday 3rd August.
Congratulations to Lily Jones who was selected to play for U17 Severn Stars yesterday in a mini pre-season NPL tournament which also included teams from Wasps, Pulse, Mavericks, Team Bath, Surrey & Henley NC. Severn Stars were undefeated all day, beating Team Bath 18 v 12 in the final to win the tournament!
Isabella Valuer-Adu has loved her first experience playing for Team Bath. She was selected for a mini pre-season U15 Tournament. After being selected last weekend it has been a big jump straight into a tournament with out any training but she has relished the experience. The young side clicked well however and finished 5th winning 3 out of 7 matches. Isabella is looking forward to more opportunities to play at this level in the blue and gold dress.
Yesterday our 5 remaining players trialed for a spot in the U16 Team Bath Academy. Well done to:
Isabella Valeur-Adu Rhea Fletcher Katie Doyle Hope Herridge Pia Gurner Pia Gurner and Rhea Fletcher have been selected to train as part of the HUB from September which is fantastic news. Isabella Valeur-Adu was also selected for the U15 Squad who will play in a tournament next weekend (28th June) against other U15 teams. Good luck to her as she gets the first opportunity to wear Team Bath Kt! Thank you to the Ana Leaf Foundation for their support of our rising talent within the PWC Netball Academies. Their support has allowed these girls the opportunity to trial at this level. 10 of our U15 and U14 players went to trial for the Team Bath U15 HUB Academy. The 10 players were selected from our U16 and U14 PWC Academy here on Island. 2 were cut after the morning session and sadly 2 others had to pull out due to illness. After another tough afternoon session 1 more player was eliminated with 5 being invited back to the second round of trials which take place next weekend. Congratulations to all the players.
Thank you to the Ana Leaf Foundation for their support of our rising talent within the PWC Netball Academies. Their support has allowed these girls the opportunity to trial at this level. Jersey's Serena Guthrie has been named as England captain for this summer's Netball World Cup in Liverpool. She has represented England since 2008.
The Team Bath star heads-up a 12-strong Roses squad for the tournament, which takes place from 12-21 July. Guthrie first took on the role last year, filling in for regular skipper Ama Agbeze, but has now been chosen to lead England in their first home World Cup since 1995. Since leaving Jersey to join Bath as a teenager, Guthrie has grown into one of the world's best players, and a leading star in her position. The 29-year-old has 90 caps to her name and helped the Roses win an historic first Commonwealth gold in Australia in 2018. England finished third in the last two World Cups, in 2011 and 2015, and achieved their best result in 1975 when they were runners-up. Coach Tracey Neville "It is fantastic to see the versatility we have amongst the final 12, plus the emergence of two outstanding leaders in Serena Guthrie as captain and Jade Clarke as vice-captain. Not only are they world class players but together they have set the standard within our Roses programme both on and off the court. Our final 12 have shown that they’re ready to perform and want to win. I’m excited to see these players compete in a home World Cup!" Jersey U11s have displayed some fantastic netball in the UK today. Sadly due to storm Hannah the original tournament was cancelled but some of the teams rallied around to put on a mini tournament. Congratulations to the Jersey Reds who came 1st! Everyone played fantastically well but special congratulations to defender Ellen Scott who was named as player of the tournament.👏🏻🎉
